Responding to requests for customized faculty development is one of the services offered at University of Silicon Valley.

Meet one-on-one in person or virtually with our Instructional Designer (ID) to get help with building out your course and incorporating student-centered digital learning.

Getting Started With Canvas

Canvas Fundamentals 1  | 60 Minutes

Instructor-led training with face-to-face and web meeting options. Get oriented with the features of Canvas and learn how these tools can be applied to your online classes. Bring your syllabus, an assignment, and several quiz or discussion questions. This session will cover the following topics:

  • Creating your home page, uploading syllabus and developing the calendar
  • Creating Announcements and sending messages
  • Creating Modules - Files, Pages, Assignments, Quizzes & Discussions

If you would like to focus on only one or some of the above-mentioned topics in the session please specify it in the request form.

Understanding Canvas Tools

Canvas Fundamentals 2  | 60 Minutes

Instructor-led training with face-to-face and web meeting options. Get oriented with the features of Canvas and learn how these tools can be applied to your online classes. This session will cover the following topics: 

  • Assessment – Gradebook, Rubrics, Speed grader, Dropout Detective
  • Recording Media – Audio & Video
  • Canvas Conferences, Collaborations and Outcomes

Augmenting Content in Canvas

Online Pedagogy | 60 Minutes

Instructor-led training with face-to-face and web meeting options. Learn about Emerging Technologies such as VoiceThread, TedEd Lessons, Genially, Scoopit, Padlet, Tes blendspace, Pearltrees, Mentimeter to name a few. You will be introduced to these technologies in this session and learn how they can be applied to your classes taught Online or On-ground for better student engagement. After understanding your course requirements, the instructor will select the appropriate Educational Technologies to focus on in the session.

Promoting Engagement with Innovative Online Activities

Online Pedagogy | 60 Minutes

Instructor-led training with face-to-face and web meeting options. This session will bring to you activity ideas and resources for Creative Instruction in an online environment.
