University of Silicon Valley makes every effort to ensure that each and every student who is accepted and wishes to enroll has the financial ability to meet his or her educational expenses. It is the goal of the Financial Aid Office to provide financial aid packages that are responsive and flexible so that the University of Silicon Valley remains affordable. The Financial Aid Office strongly encourages students and parents to ask as many questions as necessary to fully understand the options that are available to them and the process for applying.
There are many different financial aid options for those that qualify. From scholarships and grants to loans and work study, there are many different financial aid options to fit your college plans. The University of Silicon Valley will also help you apply for financial aid with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®). Scholarships
Scholarships* are funds awarded on the basis of certain factors, such as academic merit or financial need. At the University of Silicon Valley, students may be eligible for scholarships based on military service, participation in eSports, academic performance or career focus, or to family members of alumni, as a demonstration of financial need, to help with the last remaining credits, and for transfer students. Further scholarships are available for Native Americans, women in business and computer science, students that are returning to school later in their career and for “Dreamers” that want to further their contribution to the community. Grants
Grants* are awarded on the basis of financial need and do not have to be paid back. The University of Silicon Valley offers various grants, including a grant to students with immediate family members attending the University of Silicon Valley, as well as many different federal and state grants. These federal and state grants include:
Federal Pell Grant – a need-based grant for students, determined by the US Department of Education when a student files a FAFSA® application. Grants can be used for tuition, fees and living expenses.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) – a need-based federal grant available to students with the most exceptional financial need and who have not yet received a bachelor’s degree.
Cal Grant A – assists with tuition and fees. Both academic performance and financial need are considered.
Cal Grant B – provides a living-allowance and tuition and fees assistance for low-income students.

Loans
Loans can come from public or private sources and must be repaid with interest. The University of Silicon Valley helps students that complete a FAFSA application and that may be eligible for federal loans. There are four different federal loans that are offered from the U.S. Department of Education. They include:
Federal Direct Subsidized Loans – loans for undergraduate students that demonstrate financial need. Interest and charges begin six months after the student’s last day of attendance or when the maximum limit is reached.
Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans – loans for undergraduate and graduate students, not required to demonstrate financial need. However, interest charges begin 30 days after the funding of the loan.
Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan – loans for graduate students that charge interest and are subject to credit checks. Interest charges begin 30 days after the loan is funded.
Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan – loans for parents of dependent undergraduate students. Parents are legally responsible for repayment of the loan. Interest charges begin 30 days after the funding of the loan.
Work Study
This program allows students to earn money through various job opportunities at the University of Silicon Valley. Student employment is awarded on the basis of financial need and is earned money that does not have to be repaid. The Federal Work Study program (FWS) is a partially federally funded program. Full time students may work up to 20 hours per week depending on their academic load and Federal Work Study award.
What are the Financial Aid Eligibility Requirements?
While attending the University of Silicon Valley, students must maintain satisfactory academic progress to receive their financial aid. Students who are suspended from a program of study or terminated from University of Silicon Valley are ineligible for financial aid until they regain admission and comply with academic requirements.
