The U.S. Department of Education has provided Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. These grants are distributed to students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus. Eligible expenses include food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care. To determine eligibility for an Emergency Financial Aid Grant, Cogswell University of Silicon Valley utilized the U.S. Department of Education’s Expected Financial Contribution (EFC) as calculated during the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) process. This calculation takes into consideration certain factors, such as: household income, number of people in the household, number of household members attending college at least half-time, cost of living, educational expenses, and other financial factors. Enrolled students who were attending Cogswell as of March 13, 2020 who are eligible for Federal Student Aid (FSA) funds as determined by the U.S. Department of Education; and are attending during the Summer 2020 trimester, may be eligible to receive a grant.
