SAN JOSE, Calif. (University of Silicon Valley) — University of Silicon Valley (USV) announced today the appointment of Jon Relvas as Vice President of Corporate and Industry Relations. In this role, Relvas will lead USV’s strategy to expand and deepen corporate partnerships that connect students and faculty with real-world projects, applied research and development, and industry-aligned learning experiences.
“I've always believed that the right person can change everything,” said USV President. “That was never more true than when Jon Relvas arrived at Arizona State University in 2020. Jon and I share a relentless drive for execution and a belief in getting things done. Together, we grew a portfolio of R&D partnerships that included Zoom, Procter & Gamble, NASA, Adidas, Starbucks, and many others. Jon was instrumental in building the bridge between student innovators and global industry leaders. Today, I’m thrilled he’s joining USV to do it again—on an even bigger scale.”
Relvas brings a track record of building high-impact partnerships across higher education and industry. After his work expanding corporate collaborations at ASU, he went on to lead partnerships at Northeastern University, further strengthening university-to-industry pathways that accelerate innovation and student opportunity.
At USV, Relvas will focus on developing partnerships that create tangible outcomes for students—such as applied projects, mentorship, internships, and career-connected experiences—while helping industry partners engage directly with emerging talent in fields aligned with USV’s strengths, including Gaming, Animation/Entertainment, Technology, Audio/Music Production, Software Development, and Entrepreneurship.
“USV is building a new model for higher education—student-centered, relentlessly relevant, and dedicated to democratizing excellence,” said Relvas. “I’m excited to help bring industry and academia closer together so students can build with real teams, solve real problems, and graduate with experience that matters.”
USV believes the wall between academia and industry must come down. Relvas’ appointment supports the university’s continued momentum to integrate industry collaboration into the student experience and to expand opportunities for companies to co-create projects and pathways with USV students and faculty.
Companies, founders, and industry leaders interested in partnering with USV are encouraged to connect with the university.
