About Bill Roth

Digital Art & Animation

Bill Roth is an adjunct faculty member in Digital Art & Animation at the University of Silicon Valley. With over 20 years of teaching experience, he has guided students in developing as artists, critical thinkers, and creative problem-solvers. He holds a BFA from the Academy of Art University and brings a rich background in sculpture, drawing, painting, concept art, and design—grounded in decades of work in the professional film industry.

Bill has contributed to major productions at leading studios including Industrial Light & Magic, Tippett Studio, Warner Bros., and Edge Effects. His roles have spanned character design, creature effects, and visual development, giving him a strong foundation in industry-relevant techniques and creative workflows.

In the classroom, Bill emphasizes real-world practices in figure and portrait drawing, character creation, and conceptual design. He is deeply committed to mentoring emerging artists and teaching the practical, career-ready skills needed to succeed in today’s creative industries.
