About Dr. Nicholas Markette

Chief Operating Officer

Chief Operating Officer

Dr. Markette brings a rare mix of academic leadership and hands-on business experience. For 17 years at Grand Canyon University, he served as Assistant Dean and Ed.D. Program Chair in the College of Doctoral Studies. There he led accreditation and assessment, developed the college’s strategic planning process, and launched an AI-focused graduate certificate. Before and alongside his academic career, he spent decades in finance and operations: as an investment banker leading mergers, acquisitions, and public offerings, as CFO of a network of growing technology companies, and as COO of RSL AZ, where he co-led the merger that created Arizona’s largest youth sports nonprofit, serving more than 25,000 young athletes.

Nick holds a Doctor of Education and a Master of Science from Grand Canyon University and a B.S. in Finance from Arizona State University, graduating summa cum laude. He is also a published researcher, a patent holder, and a self-described polymath, which makes him a natural fit for USV.
